I was introduced to dôTERRA www.doterra.com/uk in 2016. Since then the oils have become a major part of my life. 

 

When I tried out a selection of dôTERRA oils for the first time, I instinctively knew they were special. I decided right then I needed to learn more. I’ve now built up a good collection of oils and use them consistently. For me, it’s a great feeling to have control of my physical, emotional and mental well-being by using natural tools such as essential oils. I like to think of them as nature's medicine cabinet, my first aid kit and mood management system. The oils provide me with alternatives to conventional first aid kits, healthcare and beauty products, toxic cleaning products and even ingredients in cooking. The possibilities are endless. 

 

Every emotion we experience is in response to a stimulus; a thought, a memory, or activity. These chemical responses bring us up and bring us down. A negative stimulus triggers negative feelings whereas positive triggers encourage peace, calm, joy and wellness.

 

Aromatherapy, which is the practise of using essential oils to target emotions, is the practise of purposefully introducing a positive stimulus into our emotions process. This has been proven to positively alter our chemical and emotional response.  

 

If someone is struggling with anxious feelings, sadness, fear, insomnia, grief, overwhelm, lethargy, I know the oils can be a great support.

 

When you take something that’s so beautiful and created by nature, it has an innate ability to understand how to work in our body and our body knows how to take that and do good with it. It creates a balance in the body; for example peppermint could energise and invigorate but for some it can be calming because the constituent of the oil is going to work differently within the body from person to person depending on what their body needs.

This is because our sense of smell is so closely tied to the centres of the brain that deal with emotions. So inhaling the aroma of a pure essential oil is one of the most powerful ways to affect our mood and emotions which in turn affect us physically.  

 

By reaching for an essential oil, you can choose to redirect your mood and release a flood of positive chemicals through your brain and body. Our body seems to have an innate way of knowing what oils are needed. The oils that we are particularly drawn to are often our body’s signal that we need them for a particular purpose. Sadly many of us have lost the instinct to listen to our body and to trust our intuition. The oils can help to restore and increase that by working with our sense of smell. 

 

I can honestly say I’ve found an answer to almost all of my health and wellbeing needs with these essential oils.
